Mr. Augustine has represented and counseled clients from a variety of business sectors, including:

    Recent representations by Mr. Augustine include:
  • representing an online gaming corporation from prior to inception, including with respect to a Series Seed financing;
  • representing and advising a technology startup with respect to the acquisition of intellectual property;
  • representing and advising the chief executive officer of an online technology corporation with respect to a corporate restructuring and financing;
  • representing a mortgage refinancing limited liability company from prior to inception, including with respect to a $6.5 million financing;
  • providing litigation services to Feinberg Day (Menlo Park, California), Agility IP Law (Menlo Park, California) and Hopkins and Carley (San Jose, California), with respect to patent, intellectual property and technology litigation.
    Prior to establishing Augustine Legal, Mr. Augustine:
    • advised high-technology startup clients regarding venture capital financing, mergers and acquisitions, securities issuances and general corporate matters for four years at Fenwick & West in Palo Alto and Mountain View, California;
    • represented and advised clients with respect to litigation matters for five years at Townsend and Townsend and Crew in San Francisco and Palo Alto, California, including with respect to the full spectrum of intellectual property matters (patent, trade secret, copyright and trademark), employment matters, securities matters and technology and contract disputes;
    • provided litigation consulting services to Keker and Van Nest in San Francisco, California, with respect to intellectual property and technology litigation.
        Prior to attending law school, Mr. Augustine:
    • worked for four years as a hardware, software and system engineer at Magnavox in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, designing and testing digital circuits and systems and designing, coding and testing assembly level software code; and
    • worked for five years as a software engineer at Lockheed in Sunnyvale and Palo Alto, California, designing, coding and testing software for satellite and marine systems.
        Mr. Augustine graduated with a Juris Doctor (with honors) from The George Washington University Law School, Washington D.C. in 1998, after having earned a BSEE degree at Lehigh University in 1986.  During law school, Mr. Augustine was a Member of The George Washington Law Review, in which he published the following:
